Ian Williamson


Ian Williamson joined The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) as Chief Projects Delivery Officer in October 2017. He is currently responsible for leading, planning, design and engineering, and construction at The Red Sea Project (TRSP) and AMAALA.

As the Chief Projects Delivery Officer of TRSP and AMAALA, Ian has led the way in providing innovations and solutions in the development of the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism project.

Ian’s responsibilities include selecting contractors and supply chains which facilitate offsite manufacturing and bringing the latest construction methodologies to reduce waste and minimize the impact of construction activities on the pristine environment.

He is renowned for his commitment to ensuring that TRSP and AMAALA’s worker welfare and employee’s health and safety standards meet global benchmarks.

Ian’s experience spans the roles Development Director, Business Leader, Program Director, Project Director, Construction Director and Engineering Director with 35 years’ experience in the hospitality, commercial, retail, health, education, residential, leisure, aerospace, aviation, pharmaceutical, industrial and infrastructure sectors.

Throughout the 1990s he worked for Sainsbury’s as a senior member of the development team, responsible for marketing, finance, store planning, and project management. He later acted as Senior Vice President for AECOM Europe and AECOM Middle East, where he directed projects across both continents for over 15 years.

Prior to joining TRSDC, Williamson served as Managing Director at Arcadis Middle East where he drove the growth of program management and buildings design across the Middle East from the company’s Dubai office.

Ian holds a Master of Business Administration from Cass Business School, London, UK, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with Mathematics from the University of Reading, UK.
