Nakheel has unveiled the design for the Palm Jebel Ali Friday Mosque, a landmark project that will serve as the spiritual and cultural heart of the island. With a capacity of up to 1,000 worshippers, the mosque aims to harmonise Islamic tradition with modern architectural expression.

Located along the island’s central spine, the mosque aligns with Nakheel’s vision of creating community-centric destinations that foster connection, well-being, and a sense of belonging, said a statement.

Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the Palm Jebel Ali Friday Mosque reinterprets classic Islamic forms through a contemporary lens. The structure’s cascading textile inspired canopy, extending from the roof to the courtyard, provides shade and visual continuity with the surrounding landscape.

SOM’s design embodies calmness and inclusivity, featuring clear pathways, landscaped walkways, and generous ablution spaces. These elements encourage a reflective and welcoming experience, while natural light softly diffuses throughout the interiors, creating tranquil spaces that elevate the spiritual experience and provide comfort and serenity, the firm said.

Standing at 40m tall, the mosque’s minaret will serve as a feature across Palm Jebel Ali, symbolising faith and unity. Its refined geometric composition mirrors the harmony and order inherent in both Islamic art and SOM’s design philosophy.

Meraas has awarded a US $92.6mn contract to Al Sahel Contracting for the construction of the new Riwa apartments at Madinat Jumeirah Living. The project is expected to be completed in Q3 2027.

Riwa comprises three 10-storey residential buildings, each housing 244 apartments, ranging from one-to-three bedroom units to a four-bedroom penthouse.

This latest contract award is said to solidify the longstanding partnership between Meraas and Al Sahel Contracting. Their collaboration is nearing completion on the fifth phase of Madinat Jumeirah Living, after successfully delivering four earlier phases. The partnership exemplifies Meraas’ commitment to delivering design, quality, and craftsmanship, said a statement from the developer.

Designed with contemporary elegance in mind, Riwa will feature refined facades that harmonise with the community’s signature modern-heritage architecture. The residences will boast light-filled, spacious interiors, elevated finishes, and designed layouts that align with Meraas’ vision for sophisticated urban living.

Developer TownX has achieved a milestone in the construction of its Ashley Hills project. In just four months since its launch, the development has said construction progress has reached 40%. The achievement showcases the company’s exceptional efficiency and commitment to delivering residential communities, the firm said.

Located in the Arjan district, Ashley Hills aims to redefine the residential landscape. With a sellable area of 400,000sqft, it will accommodate 616 apartments, which are designed to cater to families and investors seeking modern, sustainable living spaces in one of Dubai’s fastest growing districts, the statement noted.

Site mobilisation, enabling works, piling, and foundation construction have all seen significant progress, while the firm said it has also made notable strides on the superstructure and internal works, further solidifying the project’s trajectory.

The external envelope and building services are also currently underway, while internal finishes are progressing. External works and infrastructure are scheduled to commence in the coming months, the developer added.

In August 2025, TownX appointed Ocean Stone as the main contractor for the project. Ocean Stone, known for their experience in large-scale residential developments, has been instrumental in driving the project forward and ensuring timely progress.

Developer Modon has awarded a US $272mn contract for the execution of its Maysan project to Trojan Construction Group. The project is taking shape on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi.

According to the firm, the contract is for the construction of two modern and fully integrated residential communities within Maysan – ‘Mayar’ and ‘Thoraya’.

The move is said to showcase Modon’s commitment to delivering long-term sustainable value and meeting the highest international standards.

The first district, Mayar, will comprise 60 townhouses and 132 stacked maisonettes – a new concept in Abu Dhabi – nestled within a secure, gated community, the developer said.

The second district, Thoraya, features 184 architecturally stunning townhouses, guarded by a private entrance that ensures both exclusivity and security. When complete, the project will benefit from seamless access to the beach, landscaped parks, and a vibrant community centre, it added.

Developer Union Properties has officially commenced construction on its US $544.6mn flagship project, Mirdad, in Dubai Motor City. The milestone is said to mark Union Properties’ commitment to innovative master planning, architectural excellence, and wellness-driven urban living.
